  • Edifier GM3 Bluetooth Gaming Earphones Review

    Time: Nov. 29, 2019

Mobile games are on the rise and the removal of the 3.5mm audio jack from smartphones means that wireless games will be more common in the future. That said, Edifier improved its game and sent us the answer to the "3.5mm Apocalypse audio jack" with the Edifier GM3 Bluetooth gaming headset.

My first impression with the Edifier GM3 is the huge headphones. Such a design has good reasons to support a second ultra-low frequency speaker, a vibrating motor. Yes, you read it correctly. The secondary controller * still vibrates slightly to make the listening experience more intense. Its effect is particularly pronounced in game mode, which can be activated by pressing the side button of the online controller twice.

Although I really don't know if the headphones really vibrate or not, like the headphones with vibration on the market, the bass is more striking than any other headphones I've tried.

Unfortunately, for those who are particularly interested in audio latency in games, the latency for Bluetooth wireless games can reach 500 milliseconds. Unless phones and headphones use the aptX LL streaming codec, we cannot solve this problem at any time.

Apart from that, we will not forget the fact that we now have LEDs on our wireless headphones without the ability to edit RGB content. Of course, keeping the lights on will reduce the battery life from 12 to 9 hours. This corresponds to a reduction of approximately 25%.

The detachable microphone connects to the left earphone through the 2.5mm audio jack and has an LED. Instead of showing the microphone status, the lighting is here for aesthetic purposes only. In this case, the microphone offers a fairly good recording quality for communication between players.

The online controller is a solid block that hangs from your right earpiece. On the right side there is another battery. I mean, you'll need all those battery cells to power all those pilots and lights.

For casual players looking for a wireless solution for mobile games, the Edifier GM3 offers a complete package with clear audio quality and a better microphone for team communication. If you want to look good while playing your part, the LED is only red. Last but not least, priced at $66.39, this is probably the cheapest wireless gaming headset on the market.
